Home Sweet Home

A few emails from my 8 year old little sister, who lives in Utah -

dear kim,
I wish bear was coming with you!I wish caleb was too! On friday & saturday i went swimming at the new rec center. I have ben there 3 times already! This week was beautiful and nice. it felt like spring even though its not. i went to the dentist on thursday.my teeth are yellow! my other tooth is out and gone the toothfairy took it. i still have my other teeth! YUK! I hope you have a nice week! see you in may!

It's times like these when I'd give anything to pack up and head for home. Anything. I'd never watch another episode of Oprah. I'd give up ice cream. Chocolate. These wonderful California "winters". Never take another hot bubble bath. I'd never eat another artichoke. I would vow to never again slather a nice crisp Granny Smith with Adam's peanut butter. Ever.

And that's saying a lot.

I know what you mean ... I miss my little brother, also 8, also lives hundreds of miles away.

But, look on the bright side: when they see you, they get so excited and you become such a novelty while you are visiting that its almost magical! If you lived there full-time you'd miss out on it.
